Dubai: IMG Worlds of Adventure could be the theme park you never had growing up in the Middle East.

The new 1.5 million-square-foot theme park, which is gearing up to open in Dubai on August 31, is targeting tourists that come from countries that don’t have large-scale theme parks, says its chief executive, Lennard Otto.

“It is key for us to focus on markets that don’t have these types of attractions. So instead of people flying to the West or Far East, they could focus on flying to Dubai,” he told Gulf News in an interview at IMG Worlds of Adventure on Monday during a media preview.

The indoor theme park, owned by Dubai-based Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari (IMG) Group, is located along Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road (near Arabian Ranches, next to Global Village).

It is expected to attract 4.5 million visitors during its first year of operations and more than 30,000 per day, with an equal split between residents and tourists. More info
